Morning Tea: Mixing spice teas for your morning tea is a fun way to stay healthy. Here is a recipe with a few variations: 3 parts tulsi leaf 3 parts dried ginger root, or half a thumb of fresh ginger 1 parts of turmeric root or powder 2 parts of dandelion root 2 parts of burdock root 2 parts fennel Seed 2-3 pieces of whole clove To add sweetness, licorice root calming and great for Vata and Kapha respiratory health, you do not need much. Or add some raw honey, antiviral and antibacterial, honey is a high prana food, giving vitality and life force energy. By Constitution: Vata- Use fresh ginger and add Cumin Seed Pitta- Use dry ginger, and add coriander seed and Rock Sugar Kapha- Use fresh ginger and add a few peppercorn and enjoy with honey Turmeric Spice Mix: This spice mix can be sauteed with ghee on low heat in a cast iron pan until you smell the aroma, add turmeric last since it tends to burn easily. 6 parts turmeric 3 parts ground cumin 3 parts ground fennel 3 parts ground cinnamon 2 parts ground star anise 1 part ground clove 1 part ground nutmeg 1 part dry ginger 1 part ground black pepper Saute above spice mix in ghee for 10-15 seconds, releasing the aroma. It can also be made into a morning tea - just add some cardamom, lemon and honey. By Constitution: Vata - add a dash of Himalayan pink salt and sprinkle some sesame seeds. Pitta - replace cumin in spice mix with coriander, finish with cilantro or mint. Kapha - Add 1/4 part clove or cayenne Evening Decoction:
This evening decoction can be taken 2x a week to enhance the immune system. 1 tsp of oregano/ajwain seed 3 tsp of tulsi leaf or a few tulsi leaves 4-5 cloves 4-5 tsp of pepper powder or 1/2 thumb of fresh ginger 1/4 pinky of turmeric 2 hours before bed boil 2 cups of water with above formulation. When the water becomes half, strain and drink.
