We have self-care tools that can help us in stressful times.
First things first.....BREATHE
Take a few moments to STOP
Light some incense, burn some resin, walk through your home and purify your home.
Find somewhere comfortable to sit and take some long slow deep nostril breaths and let the mind calm, let your body relax, travel inward, and listen. Contemplating all situations are impermanent, you can begin to be open to hear what you need to do to soothe yourself and be a positive light in the situation.
Developing our inner voice is essential to connecting, calming, gaining clarity not only for good decisions but also for creativity. This is one area of life that we do have control over. So utilize your breath and be control of your own mind.
If you're familiar with the pranayam Anulom Vilom (alternate nostril breathing), do at least 10-20 morning and/or evening, use this time to increase this practice. This pranayama/breathing exercise is good for all ages and helps to bring a deep balance and can lead us into a deeper mediation.
This is a beautiful time to dive deeper into our personal spiritual practices.
HEAD MASSAGE
At least 1x a week with slightly warmed oil applied to fingertips and rubbed into scalp. Helps reduce tension, enhance senses, promotes restful sleep and is well known as a hair care ritual. Leave oil for at least 20 min and wash hair. Do not expose your head to lots of wind or cold after.
COMMUNITY CARE IS HEALING
It takes us out of survival mode and grounds us with love. Find some time to reach out by phone or video to stay connected with community, and loved ones.
Holding space for our children at this time and reflecting on the values and actions we are taking. Sharing community values reinforces our gratitude and healing energy in and around us.
FOOT MASSAGE
Stabilizes the mind through massaging whole foot and Padhya Marma. Supporting the downward moving Apana energy can help support relaxation, restful sleep, organ health and many Vata conditions.
GET OUT INTO NATURE
If your holding a lot of energy and don't know what to do with it, get outside, walk and find a tree, plant to be with or find a spot to put your hands on the earth and let all that energy out. Finding time to connect with nature is essential in releasing emotions. Using our vision to drink in positive reflections and connection with ourselves.
CALMING
Daily routines help us to stabilize our nervous system. Use regular meal times and sleep to support and ground our overall nervous system and mind. Clean the air, smudge your homes, light incense, care for plants, use essential oil diffusers. Allowing plant medicine to surround your home increasing health, as well as bringing more calmness and clarity.
SLEEP WELL
Rest early and rise early, let your body rejuvenate and build your immunity.Avoid day sleeping as it will cause more congestion and sluggishness in the
body and mind.
