Shirodhara is a therapy that supports the nervous system, turning our senses inward and helping to soothe overall stress, anxiety, depression, and fatigue. Deeply restful and meditative it can help regulate hormonal balance and strengthen immunity, sense of pleasure and innate self healing. Therapeutically Shirodhara is used for many indications and is traditionally given in multiday therapies. It is recommended to receive over the course of at least three consecutive days.
The session begins with a warmed oil scalp and foot massage. Marma also known as vital energy points are utilized to stabilize prana and give support to the emotions, heart and circulation.
Warm oil is gently and continuously hand poured through a copper vessel upon Ajna Marma (forehead) through the scalp and hair. To remove oil, cleanse and condition, a warm herbal decoction is poured throughout the scalp and hair.
It is highly recommended to plan this time to be a self retreat. Creating space to bring your senses inward by minimizing screen time, staying indoors, and resting.
